In this day and age, starting your own network marketing business has never been easier. In the past, the need for a lot of capital was an issue, but today, a big budget isn’t necessary to get your business off the ground. Technology has leveled the playing field and a business degree or MBA is no longer necessary to learn all there is to starting and running a successful business.
In last week’s blog discussion, I talked about these outdated ideas and barriers that have, in the past, kept many people from going out on their own. In this blog post, we’ll go one step further- I’ll be talking about why it’s essential that now, more than ever, it’s time get off the sidelines and start going after your dreams. So why take that first step today in starting your own direct marketing business?
A “Retire With a Gold Watch” Career No Longer Exists
Gone are the days of working for a company for 20, 30, or 40 years and retiring with a gold watch and a nice pension. Companies are laying off or forcing early retirement on more experienced and higher salaried employees in favor of cheaper labor. It’s just as risky to work for a company as it is to work for yourself these days- there’s little job security or company loyalty, and employees are seen as replaceable in an economy where someone’s willing to do your job for less money.
Entrepreneurship Offers More Flexibility and Freedom
As a company employee, your time, clientele and location are usually set and rarely flexible. As the owner of a network marketing business, however, you aren’t limited by the constraints of a company policy or board of directors- you can dictate when and where you work (whether at home, an office or on the go), who you want to work with (and who you don’t), and how to use your time as you best see fit for your organization. Although the work and hours can be hard and demanding, you can choose when and where you’ll be doing that work. No more being stuck in a cubicle Monday through Friday from 9 to 5- business can be done whenever and wherever you want.
The (Financial) Sky’s The Limit
As an employee of a company, you can only make as much money as the their budget allows. With network marketing, the only thing holding you back from earning the big bucks is yourself and how hard you’re willing to work. Even if you work like a dog at your 9 to 5 job and put in extra hours and weekends, the most you’ll ever get is a percentage raise or small bonus from a company. As an MLM professional, however, if you’re willing to put in the hard work and time, you’ll reap the financial rewards.
You’ll Be Fueled by Fulfillment and Passion
Passion and personal fulfillment have been the source of some of the world’s most innovative products, services and technologies. Both play a huge part in career satisfaction, but neither is usually found in your average 9 to 5 job. We’re rarely able to live up to our greatest potential in a clock-punching office job where to-do lists and useless meetings take up most of our time and energy.
Running your own MLM business, however, gives you the freedom to use your talents and passion to their fullest potential. Many people seek direct marketing opportunities because they feel something is missing in their careers- either their talents were being wasted or they had no passion for their work. By identifying your strengths and passions, you’ll be able to not only change your life, but also the lives of others, and no roadblock will be too big to overcome on your journey to success.
In conclusion, I hope I’ve helped dispel some old ideas about the challenges of starting your own direct marketing business and inspired you to take action today to begin a rewarding and profitable career. It’s not for everyone, but for those who are able to embrace fear and willing to put in the hard work, the results and rewards will be amazing!
