Stop Blaming the Clock

Want to know one of the biggest lies that keeps us from achieving our dreams? We tell ourselves (and others) “I just don’t have the time!” Whether it’s maintaining a workout routine or growing a network marketing business, we use the excuse of not having enough hours in the day to get everything we want to get done. Between a full-time job, chores, family obligations and all the other activities that make up our busy lives, who has the time to dedicate to a new habit or business?

So how do you explain the single mother who works two jobs and still finds time to complete their degree at night? Or the full-time employee who spends 8 hours at their desk job yet still dedicates another 1-2 hours a day growing their network marketing business? These people haven’t discovered a magical 26-hour day- they’ve simply made the commitment to use the same 24 hours bestowed upon us all – on the things that are truly important to them and their futures.

People who are truly passionate about what they do and want in life will always find the time to do what’s necessary to achieve their goals. You need to get real with yourself about how you spend your time and decide just how much it’s really worth. Is it worth having to put off retirement for an additional 5-10 years to waste two hours a day watching mindless TV instead of attending network marketing events? Is spending an hour a day on Facebook instead of on the phones prospecting really worth a week’s vacation each year with your family? As you ask yourself these questions, you’ll begin to see just how valuable your time is – and you’ll be able to decide if that time is worth delaying the future of your dreams.

If you are serious about creating and growing a successful network marketing business, you need to stop making excuses about not having enough time and find the time necessary to grow your business. Begin by taking a look at how you spend your time this week and think about ways to maximize those 10,080 minutes. I guarantee you there are at least 60 minutes each day being wasted on some mindless activity that could easily be used to grow your business.

If you find you truly have no spare time in your existing schedule, look to the beginning and end of your day to find that time. Some of the most successful entrepreneurs and business leaders are known for waking up early to get a jump-start on their day, so why not follow their lead? That extra half hour or hour of sleep might be nice, but it’s costly, and successful people know that setting the alarm clock back 30 to 60 minutes is worth it in the long run.

This week, think about one way you can carve out 30 to 60 minutes each day to dedicate to growing your referral marketing business and start TODAY. Make a conscious decision about how to best use your time, and begin to create a schedule where the time spent achieving your goals is non-negotiable. Your future self and bank account will thank you!
